Dulag, Leyte, also known as "The Karatong Country" and "Liberation Town". My hometown is a coastal town wherein a south of the concurrent  regional center of Eastern Visayas and the administrative capital of provincial government of Leyte, Tacloban.

 


It is known as "The Karatong Country" due to the numerous bamboos which you can observe when you visit the coastal town. It is called "The Karatong Country" because Dulagnons, the people who lived in Dulag, are known as resilient, born-ready, determined, versatile and especially strong just like bamboos.

Dulag, Leyte considered as The Liberation Town after the World War era. In connection to this matter, there were historical spots that you can visit or view in Dulag Leyte. These historical landmarks reminds us, especially the Dulagnons on how the people conquer and fight for the freedom under the spanish conquest in the town.

  THE RUINS Brgy. Sungi Dulag, Leyte An original Spanish structure built in 1595 and considered as the first exclusive Jesuit School in the province of Leyte. Opened as a religious school by a Jesuit priest named Fr. Tourists/Visitors who wish to view the beauty of Dulag, Leyte must prepare enough money and energy. From Tacloban City, take a van at the terminal behind SM Savemore bound directly to Dulag, Leyte Proper. Make sure to advise the driver beforehand to drop you off at the crossing of the town proper or to the Andoks Dulag. Travel time is around 40-60 mins.  TOURISTS/VISITORS BUDGET  By simply budgeting around one to three thousand pesos, you can now visit and enjoy my hometown Dulag, Leyte. The fee of the tricycle starts at 10 pesos and it increases depends on the places you wanna go. You may also bring your own vehicle in enable to save money and less hassle for your convenience.
